Stardate: 203321

Something wierd is going on. We tried to beam over but our transporters were blocked! It takes some power to do that, which means they don't have a power problem. I've come back to look up some information on what could cause...

>>RED ALERT<<

Tuesday, 30 December 2008

Stardate: 203320

We've been briefed that the GE-Storm has suffered major power failure. It's like that the plasma cells have died away to be that badly affected. We only saw her a while back in the fleet when she was helping to deflect the Asteroid, as she's the same model as our ship. I'll organise a few to beam over to help.

Stardate: 203319

Looks like the games might get cancelled. We’ve been given a Mission and half of the participants in the games have been called into duty. That was quite funny in the Powerball competition when one of the opponents left halfway, leaving the other team member to fight off 2 burly Powerball strikers! Gwen’s in one of the games in a couple of days, so it will be interesting to see how she gets on. I think she has a big advantage, but let’s hope the games continue – should be a good laugh!

Friday, 26 December 2008

Stardate: 203318

No chance to watch the games today, Chief wanted some of the plasma manifolds checked as he had been getting a couple of bad readings from the sensors. My team's working on it now.

Thursday, 25 December 2008

Stardate: 203317

Wow, the games have been steaming along. They've been doing strength based games without jet assistance, which has been interesting. You suddenly realise just how heavy stuff is when the gravity matrix is on full.

Wednesday, 24 December 2008

Stardate: 203316

The games started today and it's been busy for all those not taking part. I'll try and take a look in later, but apparently the 400m holodash went well.

Tuesday, 23 December 2008

Stardate: 203315

Its tomorrow. I don’t think I’ll enter into the games myself. Chief thinks we should enter as a team on some event but to be honest, I’d probably let the side down. Not unless they start plasma games..

Monday, 22 December 2008

Stardate: 203314

We got a memo from the Chief reminding us (for those who forgot) that it’s the Annual Sports Lounge Championship in a couple of days.  Security has been tightened around the holomem consuls and any engineer working in the same sector as the Sports Lounge cannot work alone. Any found working alone are immediately suspended from duty!  I thought it was all about taking part and enjoying yourself, but it’s a serious event!

Friday, 19 December 2008

Stardate: 203313

Well after yesterday's excitement, we had a party and now I have a subphonic headache. I wish the Doc would give me the cure, but in her words "you won't learn from it if you don't suffer from it". I swear she enjoys watching us wince whenever we hear a loud noise. The Tracker has left to return to base, as they have to explain this experiment somehow.

Thursday, 18 December 2008

Stardate: 203312

I can't get my head around this. Today, Krona suddenly appeared through the Teleport, right into engineering. We made such a huge noise, that we didn't notice Captain walk in as he teleported back. It all went quiet for a few moments until Captain broke into a smile and started shaking everybody's hand! I thought we were in for it then, the amount of protocols we've broken!

Wednesday, 17 December 2008

Stardate: 203311

Ha ha!! Chief was running around engineering taking various items from the crew. We were reasonably self contained in our amusement until he suddenly presented us with a subphonic backup drive with the GE Tracker ID Code on it!  I have NEVER heard the crew go mental like they did today!! WHOOHHOO!!

Tuesday, 16 December 2008

Stardate: 203310

Chief had a quiet word with the pilot and we’re currently at subphonic speed with only about 80m between us. At this speed the two pilots are doing a mighty fine job at keeping us apart. Chief keeps “borrowing” various food items from the crew. Apparently if the experiment goes wrong we could all end up like monkeys. Funny that.

Monday, 15 December 2008

Stardate: 203309

Engineering is in "lock down" from personnel who are not involved with this experiment. I've managed to slip in, thanks to Gwen, and to be honest, Krona's got some cracking Algorithms in place. This is going to be fun!

Friday, 12 December 2008

Stardate: 203308

We’re heading out for a quiet area of space to try this experiment out. Captains found a place on the sensors where we can have a big expanse of travelling without much course change. This could be interesting.

Gwen has been involved in setting things up this end, she told me how clever Krona was, and good looking and stuff. Not that it bothers me. Although I did get a higher score in the plasma exam than him.

Thursday, 11 December 2008

Stardate: 203307

It was a success!! And a big relief for everybody involved. There’s a party happening down on the surface and everybody is invited!

However, Krona is desperate to try out his experiment. He told me what it was, and to be honest it could be pretty cool if it works. He made me swear not to say anything until it’s public knowledge and told me explicitly to not put it in my logs for some reason, so I will honour it. He’s going to get his name on this if it works.

Wednesday, 10 December 2008

Stardate: 203306

Oh My Word. It’s looking bigger as it gets closer. According to calculations, we’re going to be able to channel this asteroid with the Nidus dishes. If it fails, 30 of the fleet could go missing.

On a lighter note, Krona sent me a message to say that his team have been working on something that their captain wants to try out if our ships are still intact. He’s not telling me the secret, but I’ll worm it out of him, he owes me a few favours!

Tuesday, 9 December 2008

Stardate: 203305

We all had a big meeting this morning and we have just 24 hours before the Asteroid is in position, heading toward T-Minor, so all rest periods have been cancelled and we’re on full alert. Our Plasma team have been reconfiguring the Nidus dish as this is going to play a role in this..

Monday, 8 December 2008

Stardate: 203304

You know, I’ve never seen “T-Minor” until now. And now why they put the Minor bit on the end. It’s a small planet and according to the databanks only has about 300,000 inhabitants, but looking out of the window, it’s in danger. So 30 ships, 300,000 people – looks like each of us are responsible for the lives of 10,000 people. That’s quite a solemn thought.

Friday, 5 December 2008

Stardate: 203303

We're off, and it's the most impressive site to see out of the windows, and on the navigational systems. 30 ships, all in fleet format around our ship, which is taking the lead. Word is that our Captain is in charge of this fleet, and to be honest I feel a little proud to serve under his command. T-Minor, here we come!

Thursday, 4 December 2008

Stardate: 203302

Abbreviation seems to be the word of the day, as it looks like we're heading out to Trephiliacora Minor. We've had a few challenges amongst the RibbleQlock's who can't seem to say Trephiliacora properly, so we've condensed it to T-Minor for their benefit. To be honest, it's easier for the rest of us too!

Wednesday, 3 December 2008

Stardate: 203301

I can’t believe how many ships have arrived here in the last few hours.  My comms panel has been going absolutely crazy with messages from old buddies from the Academy.  Qiz, Krona, Harry, Jon E & Yaz have all sent me messages hoping we can meet up at the end of our Mission, so it could be a major party if we are successful.

Tuesday, 2 December 2008

Stardate: 203300

Apparently we’re going to be together as a fleet for a certain Mission. I’ve got my plasma team on double shifts, because I get the feeling we’ll be doing something that will put a strain on the ship.  Not sure how many will be in the fleet, but it will be good to catch up with some of my old academy mates.

Monday, 1 December 2008

Stardate: 203299

Got something happening this week, according to Chief – but as usual, he’s keeping his cards close to his chest. I’m starting to understand that now that I am a Junior grade officer. Probably find out tomorrow.

Friday, 28 November 2008

Stardate: 203298

Gerald has left. Gwen has gotten too attached to the alien, saying that he looked sad to leave.  Probably because he liked our food containers. Anyway, we’ve got plasma checks to do. Where’s my team? Probably in the observer lounge, watching the alien get taken to the planet’s surface.

Thursday, 27 November 2008

Stardate: 203297

Chief was upset that we’ve spent so much time looking in on The Alien previously known as Gerald.  I refuse to call it Gerald. It’s a creature and it can’t talk, if you name it you get attached to it and I refuse to do that. I’ve got some plasma checks to do and I’ll check on him later to make sure he’s comfy.

Wednesday, 26 November 2008

Stardate: 203296

Had another fun day with the alien.  Some of the crew felt a little sorry for him because he was hungry. We cave him big containers full of food, and he promptly ate the containers!  I told chef he needs to change his recipe for his regenerated beef casserole.

Tuesday, 25 November 2008

Stardate: 203295

Funny day today, a load of us ended up watching the alien in the store cupboard, and when he calmed down a bit, he looked… well hungry really.  We all decided to name him, and some prune came up with “Gerald”. Stupid name, it will never stick.

Monday, 24 November 2008

Stardate: 203294

We all had to wear oxygen equipment today as Chief had put one of his special recipes into the air handling system.  My team had to run between a few of the computer systems, diverting air duct vents open and close to get our visitor into a storage room..  Looks like it worked and the whole ship seemed to have fun too!

Friday, 21 November 2008

Stardate:203293

Oh I don't believe it.. they can't really be serious?

Thursday, 20 November 2008

Stardate: 203292

Yay for Gwen!  She’s been released and looks surprisingly calm about the whole thing. I’d have been tearing the walls out. Mind you, it wasn’t like she was rammed into the brig.  We’re all working hard now to find a way to flush a creature out of our system. And I swear that my vent ducts keep vibrating.

I also hate the feeling of being watched.

Wednesday, 19 November 2008

Stardate: 203291

Managed to finally get onto plasma checks today and would you believe it, our deplasma unit has gone missing!  So it can’t be Gwen, because she’s still in lockup. What is going on here? Still nothing found anywhere else yet.

Tuesday, 18 November 2008

Stardate: 203290

Well, we’ve searched everywhere and not found anything yet. Chief wants us to search again. He’s determined that his logs are right, and I must admit – he’s not often wrong.  Our plasma checks aren’t getting done though.

Monday, 17 November 2008

Stardate: 203289

For some odd reason, Chief wants us all hunting for some "extra weight" on the ship. Apparently Captain ordered the search, so we're all looking for something that doesn't belong where it is.

Gwen doesn't belong where she is. I wouldn't say she was a "weight" though. I hope she's ok.

Friday, 14 November 2008

Stardate: 203288

Not in a good mood today. I still can't believe Gwen would do something like that, but others are saying that the evidence was in her quarters - it must be her.

I wanted to see her today, but the security personnel have strict instructions to allow nobody in. I just want to ask her myself, to look into her eyes and see her reaction. I'd know if she really did it or not.

Thursday, 13 November 2008

Stardate: 203287

Really concerned. Word has it that Gwen is a security holding because they found stolen items in her quarters. I know she wouldn't do it, but with evidence like that..

I just don't know what to believe.

Wednesday, 12 November 2008

Stardate: 203286

Went to relieve some stress today after that interview with the Commander.  Was thinking of meeting up with Gwen, but met Daniel in the corridor and he was up for a game in the sports lounge. I wonder if we’re still going to go to GE0 now that we’ve made contact?

Tuesday, 11 November 2008

Stardate: 203285

Remind me NEVER to upset Commander Stratton.

I made a vow today. In whatever capacity, whatever I am doing, I take it as one of my responsibilities to ensure that the Captain’s life is NEVER in danger. I will lay my life down for his.

I guess you’re wondering why I have come to this conclusion? Because if Captain died, Commander Stratton would be in command.

Monday, 10 November 2008

Stardate: 203284

Just about to enter my diary and have been called into a “meeting” with Commander Stratton. I’ll enter my diary comments tomorrow.

Friday, 7 November 2008

Stardate: 203283

Looks like we have a wider issue regarding the Missing Calibration Tool. Word is that somebody is stealing stuff, but it’s only gossip. Everybody is getting protective of their gear now, and it’s getting harder to borrow tools.

Thursday, 6 November 2008

Stardate: 203282

Chief hasn’t got a spare calibration tool and there are rules about replicating equipment used to fix equipment that replicates it. Some paradox problem that somebody clever at GE0 discovered. Hope it wasn’t our upgrade man! Anyway, we’ll have to wait until we next dock.

Wednesday, 5 November 2008

Stardate: 203281

Oddly, Captain didn’t have his “meet and greet” with me. It was obviously important, he wouldn’t cancel a meet with his staff over anything trivial. Had another look for the Calibration Tool, and it isn’t around – at all. Gwen didn’t borrow it, and she said something that made me remember I put it back into its rightful place. Told Chief that we’d need a new one.

Tuesday, 4 November 2008

Stardate: 203280

I need to go ask Gwen about that calibration tool, but Captains due to come see me today, so am Tidying up my quarters in case he wants to inspect them.  Apparently he likes to visit personnel in their own quarters because he feels it makes them relax. But there is only so much rubbish you can hide in Teleport Stasis!

Monday, 3 November 2008

Stardate: 203279

We were all told to look out the starboard windows today and everybody was amazed at what we saw! Apparently it’s a white hole. Never heard of it myself, but we looked it up on the ships records and only a few have ever been sighted! We were all in awe at it.

We had some plasma checks today, making sure that they hadn’t been affected. Everything seems ok, although couldn’t find my calibration tool. I think I loaned it to Gwen the other day. I’ll have to get that back.

Friday, 31 October 2008

Stardate: 203278

We’ve been hammering back pretty quick to GE0, some issue with the communications responses from their end. Everything is checking out ok at this end, and it’s rare that GE0 can’t broadcast a signal. Gwen is running a team to check for other interference while I lead a few guys down to ensure that no Plasma circuits are overloaded. So far, all ok.

>error unrecognisable signal

Got to go, Gwen’s on to something and Chief wants us all to meet up for a quick meeting.

Thursday, 30 October 2008

Stardate: 203277

Just found out that I have a "meet and greet" with the Captain in a few days. I wonder if he'll remember me from the ceremony?

Wednesday, 29 October 2008

Stardate: 203276

Chief said that he wanted me to do a plasma systems check, because we might be heading off soon. All systems checked out fine.  Apparently he will be organising me a team of ensigns that he wants trained up in plasma skills. Looks like we’ll soon have a “plasma department” how surreal!

Tuesday, 28 October 2008

Stardate: 203275

I can’t believe how people look at you so differently when you’re no longer an ensign. I wonder if the Captain gets this too? It’s a little scary.

Monday, 27 October 2008

Stardate: 203274

Well that was, interesting.  Apart from the hangover (note to self: NEVER drink the Meegan rum), it seems I’ve lost some friends in the “ensign” world and gained a few in the “officer” world. Some people get so jealous.  Thankfully Gwen wasn’t one of them. Oh, and it looks like I’m getting my room back. Glad of that after last night’s embarrassments.

Friday, 24 October 2008

Stardate: 203273

Can’t sleep. Ceremony is in about 8 hours time. Trousers fitted fine. Might go down to the Sports Lounge and take it out on a game of photon split.

I am so nervous.

So that’s the upgrade done. Now where did they put my altered dress uniform?

Wednesday, 22 October 2008

Stardate: 203271

Turns out that the “twit” from GE0 was a Chief Commanders son. Turns out this same guy was responsible for winning a competition to name the Mars Space Station. His winning entry? Mars Space Station.  Chief has got me to remove all the upgrades with his name on them until we can investigate further.

Oh, and I’ve got to find my dress uniform… and somebody that can adjust it around the waist a little. Just a little.

Tuesday, 21 October 2008

Stardate: 203270

Great. Some “boffin” at the GE0 has created a plasma filter with such small particle elements stopped the flow of the plasma. Within seconds we’d backed up the plasma and it ruptured a few conduits. We’ve removed it again and Chief is getting in touch with them to prevent the same filter going out to the rest of the fleet. Twit.

Monday, 20 October 2008

Stardate: 203269

We’re in dock now and the Meegan’s have got a load of updates from GE0. Some of them are really cool, a couple are a little suspect – not so sure they’ll help us. Anyway, Chief wants them all installed and until the ceremony, I’m still an Ensign – so off I go!

Friday, 17 October 2008

I just can’t understand how…

Oh My Word!

Thursday, 16 October 2008

Stardate: 203267

Somebody’s taken my plasma pen. The thief, I’m gonna kill em.

Ok, scrub that from the logs, in case the Doc reads this - I’m going to file a complaint through the proper procedures. And no Doc, I am not suffering post traumatic wormhole experiences. That’s if you ever read these logs. Mind you I guess by the fact I’ve mentioned the Doc’s name twice no, three times now that the computer has probably started analysing this log for common signatures. So she probably will get a copy of this. And now I am chattering on like no tomorrow.

I’ll pop by for a check up, Doc.

Wednesday, 15 October 2008

Stardate: 203266

Just heard that we’re making our way to the Meegan Space Port. They’re a really nice bunch of people. We’ve even had a few of them become personnel in our fleet in the past. They’re the kind of people that would run ahead to activate the automatic door for you. I hope we get a few days there, they are great hosts.

Tuesday, 14 October 2008

Stardate: 203265

I am getting sick and tired of Mr Know It All. You know, he told me his name but it got lost in the torrent of information that apparently I need to know to live. You know, important stuff like why they gave up looking for the quadzammonamutheblubblub decimal place in PI because Circles are perfect enough. You know.. stuff like that makes me sleep so much better at night.

And no, I am not losing my cool.

Monday, 13 October 2008

Stardate: 203264

Wow. If only the Freedom had followed us through.  Gwen and a few others noticed that there was a tear in the wormhole on the way back and we felt the Freedom might have been able to follow through without being battered too much, but it closed a few minutes after.  Mr Know It All is complaining about my snoring. I’ll be complaining about his lack of work before too long. He is so proud of himself and just will not get on and do the jobs he’s given.

Friday, 10 October 2008

Stardate: 203263

Everybody has secured everything down ready to go back through the wormhole. Everybody is nervous about the journey. Looking out the window, I can just make out the Freedom's rear beacon, and the wormhole is dead ahead. People are saying it wasn't as bad on this ship, but knowing what the Freedom suffered, I'm a little worried.

Thursday, 9 October 2008

Stardate: 203262

Wow.. The Freedom is heading back the long way. That'll take years! A brave move, but the safest one in light of the damage she got from the wormhole.  A few of us think that if they were pulled through, either by us or the wormhole, but with all power off, that she might get through. But it's all a guess.

Sounds like Know It All is returning, so I'm going to start my shift.

Wednesday, 8 October 2008

Stardate: 203261

Oh charming.

I am now having to share my quarters with somebody from the Freedom.  Mr Big Head Know It All, is off to get his first assignment from Chief.  Loads have come from the Freedom, because their Captain doesn't want to risk going back through the wormhole.  Although a few of us in engineering had thoughts about that, but Chief wouldn't listen. Oh well. back to my plasma checks.

Tuesday, 7 October 2008

Stardate: 203260

Grief, we going to run out of spares if I find more plasma corruption, that wormhole has really hacked us about a bit. I bet most of the officers think that we got through really lightly, but it's a real mess down here. No wonder the Freedom was so crippled.

Monday, 6 October 2008

Stardate: 203259

Back in my old cabin. Its nice to be back here again in my old space. It's a little smaller, but it's big enough for me. And I know my way around this ship.  Lots of work to do, it didn't get as much of a beating as the Freedom, but a few of the plasma circuits got burnt out.

Friday, 3 October 2008

Stardate: 203258

It was the FORGE!  YAY for Captain! They spent most of yesterday helping us to fix some necessary stuff, and our Chief has managed to get the Subphonic drives back online, so power is being regenerated. Gwen came over to help and I got a big hug from her! So happy now. I think we're all going to be transferred back to our respective ships as we all need to be running at 100% efficiency and we all know our own ships well. Just waiting to get the order to teleport back now.

Thursday, 2 October 2008

Stardate: 203257

Ok, so it wasn't stars last night, but today I certainly saw something. Something else has followed through the wormhole and I just hope its friendly. Without any scanners, or external lights, its hard to make the shape out. It won't matter soon anyway, this oxygen is getting a little thin..

Wednesday, 1 October 2008

Stardate: 203256

It's probably an odd thought to log, but I don't really want to sleep when I could be sleeping for a long time when the life support goes. Think I made out some stars this morning, but then, I'm starting to see Mum's Cornish pasties floating outside too.

Tuesday, 30 September 2008

Stardate: 203255

We just heard news we didn't want to hear.  First Chief told us that the subphonic drives are shot to pieces and with no spare parts, we stuck. Then this afternoon, Captain told us that protocol does not allow a rescue ship to put their own crew in danger. And our life support is failing with about 3 or 4 days before it packs up completely.

On the plus side, I rezzed my collection of sub phonic outlet ejectors before we went through the wormhole. So at least I'll die happy with a polishing cloth in my hand.

Monday, 29 September 2008

Stardate: 203254

I always find it odd that, over life support, the last ounce of power would go to the ships logs. Chief explained that its important for the crew that find us to know what happened, in case they also step into danger. Quite a morbid view, but Chief said that we still have enough power in the backup cells to last us a few more days. Enough time for us to fix the subphonic drive. Better get to work then.

Friday, 26 September 2008

Stardate: 203253

We're still drifting. No engines, no weapons, no shields, no navigation. We've managed to get power to some of the minor systems, and life support is working - just.  It looks like we've lost bits off the ship in the shakedown. The Chief on this ship said that a few escape pods were knocked loose, and a few had the assignment of counting what bits we have left. I must say, for the first time, I am pretty scared.

We're... drifting somewhere.. The ships in a bad state and it looks like we went into the wormhole. All the major components are offline and engineering have the priority in fixing the navigation systems so that we can work out where we are. But, looking out the windows, I can't see any stars. Not one.

Wednesday, 24 September 2008

Stardate: 203250

We've just received a mission. I started packing up my stuff to transfer back, but we've left already! Something urgent has come up that the captain won't divulge. I am still trying to get used to the new crew and Chief.

Monday, 22 September 2008

Stardate: 203249

OH MY WORD!

My quarters are fantastic! They are bigger than mine. Good grief, if I knew I'd have this space I would have bought my collection of sub phonic outlet ejectors. They're currently in teleport stasis because Chief saw how much room they would take but they'd already been passed by GE0. But if I had been given an assignment on the Freedom, I could have rezzed them. I'll see if I can get them across tomorrow. I'm going exploring before my shift starts.

Friday, 19 September 2008

Stardate: 203248

Well just about to go down to teleport over. I'm pretty excited. Can't see what the rooms are like and people are saying that there's so much room over there our entire crew could fit!

Just need to transfer my log over there. Can't wait!

Stardate: 203247

Wow. I just got notification from Chief that I'll be going over to the Freedom for a few days in some crew exchange program. Am dead excited, we teleport over tomorrow!  Chief said that they might benefit from my plasma understanding, but to remember that I am just an ensign and whatever they say goes. I think his final words were something like "Don't screw it up". Ah the confidence!

Stardate: 203246

Had some long overdue down time today. Wasted it breaking a sweat in the sports lounge and saw Randall in there so beat him at a few games of Quarimore. He can't seem to take losing well, so he'll be one to avoid in the mess hall, I can eat spaghetti faster than most on this ship.

Tuesday, 16 September 2008

Stardate: 203245

Well the medical bay move seemed to go ok. Randall's complained to chief that his room is smaller. We measured it and it's actually bigger. He won't have it, so Chief said he'd have to live with it or check himself in to his old room - aka Medical.

Monday, 15 September 2008

Stardate: 203244

Received a "construction" task today. Chief wanted a few engineers on hand while they modify the medical bays.  We had a few crew move into alternate cabins and their cabins have been "grafted" in as part of the medical section now. Chief wanted to make sure that no important plasma tubes were crushed by the "cowboys" in the structure team - whatever a cowboy is! And now the medical team are using Ozone to kill off Bacteria in the old cabins to make them sanitary. How clever.

Stardate: 203243

It doesn't matter how many times I look at the freedom through the portal.. it's a huge ship. But we're quicker!  Captain's extended holodeck time, so I might go find a quite bar to sit in.

Thursday, 11 September 2008

Stardate: 203242

Well I was hoping for a relaxing day today, but looks like Chief had other plans. No time to stop.

Wednesday, 10 September 2008

Stardate: 203241

Looks like I've got a bit of tidying up to do. System resources are all over the place, because of my.. now what did Chief call it?.. oh yes, my escapade.. so looks like I'm data crunching all afternoon.. joy..

Tuesday, 9 September 2008

Stardate: 203240

Well I got a ticking off. Something about protocol. Even though I helped out, protocol on a starship is more important. Off the record I got a pat on the back. But off the record doesn't count when you're trying to work toward promotion does it?

Monday, 8 September 2008

Stardate: 203239

Chief wants to see me and I've avoided him so far.  Apparently an "Ensign" shouldn't have that much access to the holodeck processing cells.

Friday, 5 September 2008

Stardate: 203238

We closed the door on the Tolans - quite literally!  Managed to get them all into taking a wrong turn in through the holodeck door and into what they thought was our ship. They had controls working and everything, but couldn't find the exit. The others are free now and Captains number 1 is on the bridge bringing us back to the Tolan planet. We're on red alert now and my programs been shut down with the holodeck doors locked shut. They'll be in for a big surprise when we drop them off!

Thursday, 4 September 2008

Stardate: 203237

Ha ha!! It's already working! Ok, to bring you up to speed.. The computer finished processing last night, and basically I've copied the look of the ship into the holodeck..and gradually one by one the Tolans have gotten lost and ended up in the holodeck version of the ship!! I've made it "no way out" so they are trapped!! Just a few more Tolans to go and I'll be able to get our guys free!

Wednesday, 3 September 2008

Stardate 203236

Its a long process, the computer systems is chugging away at this monumental task. I've had to allocate loads of the systems resources to this job. I hope the Tolans don't notice. I also hope this works. If it does, I might be forgiven for diverting so much to the holodeck. If it doesn't... I'm dead meat.

Tuesday, 2 September 2008

Stardate: 203235

It's worked, I have transferred a copy of my quarters to the holodeck. Now to put my plan in action. I've safeguarded the system by erecting an image of outer space with an imaginary force-field just inside the door of the holodeck. If anybody opens the door to look inside, it will look like they've opened the door to outer space! Now to get the computer working overtime to complete my plan. First thing first, rez a nutritional unit - I'm famished.. or is that ravenous?

Monday, 1 September 2008

Stardate: 203234

I am grinning today.. just had a wicked idea that might actually work. I've just got to get to a holodeck without being seen, which might be hard because no plasma tubes go through them for safety reasons. I'll have to transfer my quarters into the holomem.. but that's not difficult.. the ships computer knows exactly what it looks like.

Friday, 29 August 2008

Stardate: 203233

Managed to crawl through some tubing to the area of the engineering and its swarming with Tolans.  Doesn't look like they know what they are doing in there though, but somehow we've left orbit. Crawled toward the loading bays and found the crew. All being held hostage, although I couldn't see the Doctor.  I can't see into the Medical rooms, for privacy reasons I guess, so I would imagine she's in there. So now I don't know what to do.. Unless I can disrupt the plasma leading into the subphonic drive...

Thursday, 28 August 2008

Stardate: 203232

Not sure how often I can get back to my quarters to leave notes in my diary, but in case they use my logs as a report for the events, I'll do my best to come back and leave something on them. Normally its the Captain that is required to leave a continual log each day - part of his duties as a Captain I think. But as our Captain is down below, he won't be able to...

Wait a moment. Chief gave him a remote log system upgrade a few weeks ago. I wonder if we could find out if they are ok? Trouble is, I don't have the access to his logs. Only Chief, or the Doctor could access those in an emergency.

Gotta go, somebody's in the corridor...

I can't talk long, the ships been overrun. I don't know who, but I'm guessing its the Tolans. They've not found me yet, but I guess that's because I'm scared of them and hid in the Plasma tubes! Thankfully I know the tubes like the back of my hand and I'll see if I can see what's happening at engineering.  I might be able to hack my terminal here and get some ship information pumped into here. Just hope nobody's changed the password.

Stardate: 203229

I can't believe it. It's so unfair. Chief let Gwen take shore leave down on the Tolan's planet because he felt she'd be good at keeping a level head while the rest of the fleet got drunk. As if!

So I get to watch..

>memo received - Captain Cartier, Edward - Authenticated

As many crew as wish, and do not have shifts, are invited to the surface for a party being held by the Tolan people before our exit tomorrow morning. I recommend those who can make the most of it as I cannot guarantee when we will next have a viable surface to stretch our ground legs.

Oh cool, it will be nice to get out of this uniform! Time to hit the shower.

Thursday, 21 August 2008

Stardate: 203227

I've asked Chief for some time off. I just realised that I've been working solid with no proper leave and I am so tired.  Chief agreed to letting me have the rest of today and all of tomorrow off, which will be nice. Not sure what I will do, but just not having the pressure of work will be welcomed.

Stardate: 203226

Ok for the record, I don't like the fact that my mum's recipe was replaced with some "alien" foodstuff.

However, last night I had my home favourite - fried potato strips, steak cubes in gravy surrounded by a flour pastry and for dessert... well I had to try that Tolan bean thing.. and while I was thinking it was some savoury bean like kidney beans or pulses.. it turned out to taste similar to coffee! It was ok!

Sorry mum, but your hashed up flour and custard has been replaced!

Tuesday, 19 August 2008

Stardate: 203225

Bit annoyed today. Looks like one of mums recipes have been replaced with some disgusting looking bean dessert. Sorry mum, I must have forgotten to lock the file. Got some leave days due but not overly fussed with the sports lounge at the moment. Have to find something to do.

Monday, 18 August 2008

Stardate: 203224

It appears we've overshot a little. When Chief told me that, I wasn't sure if he was talking about our vessel, or the "shots" I was having last night! I was glad that medical have uploaded a great "cure" for hangover into the system.

Chief was "drawing straws" between the Officers in Engineering, as Captain is taking a team down to meet the occupants of a local planet we stopped near after our high speed run.  Rumour has it that they know how to party. I bet we could show them a thing or two.

Stardate: 203221

There's that same buzz again. Everybody is talking about how fast we might go.  All systems are back to normal. Well actually, that's not entirely true! All systems are better than normal! Chief said we'd be doing the run first thing in the morning because it would be a better looking date for the history books. How frustrating! LETS GO NOW! COME ON COME ON!!

I need to cut back on my coffee.

Tuesday, 12 August 2008

Stardate: 203220

I bumped into Chief this morning and he pulled me to one side. I got told that he was in a bit of a confusing situation. Part of him wanted to give me a ticking off for using site to site transport in an inappropriate manner and for appearing between him and the emergency stop controls, but then the other part of him understood why we were trying to stop him and if he had listened to our call, the engines wouldn't have overloaded in the first place.

He's let me off with an "off the record" warning. But he's told me he wants to see my timekeeping improved or he'll use that as an excuse to administer an official one.

Thankfully we've sorted the fault and will be good to go within a few minutes. Chief has gone to tell Captain that we're ready again. This could be a momentous occasion, again.

Monday, 11 August 2008

Stardate: 203219

I'll probably get into trouble for using a site to site teleport like I did yesterday. I kept trying to get chief on the communicator to tell him about the fault that we found, but I guess because I was just an "ensign" he ignored my call during such an important run.  Trouble is, the fault blew the main systems just after I teleported in front of him and I got in the way of the emergency shut down controls.

So, technically its my fault that the systems are completely offline. But then it wouldn't have blown if Chief had responded to my call.

I'm laying low in the plasma tubes later. Not that you can lay much lower than the tubes make you lay..

Friday, 8 August 2008

Stardate: 203218

Its going to happen later this morning. The run. Chief gave us a meeting at 4am to say that he was proud of everything we had done and if this works, every name on this ship will be in the history records as members of the ship that broke the record.  Everything is set. Sensors are going through the Nidus dish for now, because we need them to give the navigation systems the most advanced information about what's ahead. If we break this record, we'll probably need to rebuild the ship because half the systems on here weren't designed for that kind of continued speed. But it will be the most exciting upgrade ever. I just can't wait to see the plasma change. Silly I know but I guess I have a soft spot for..

Stardate: 203217

Can't stop, just come back to get my plasma modulator. Chiefs got us working double shifts back on back to get everything ready. We had our meeting and we' going to do a Čerenkov run. Basically its the principle of getting the plasma to shove us through at the speed of light. It's never been achieved yet but the stakes are high and we'd get our name and ship listed in the history records.  The bit I am excited about, is when we hit it - the plasma changes colour. I've never seen..

Yes, Sir! On my way Sir!

gotta go, Chief just called me on my communicator.

Wednesday, 6 August 2008

Stardate: 203216

Am really excited today. We're having an engineering meeting later today and Chief is cancelling all rest days because of a special mission.  Rumour has it that we're going to try and breaks a speed record. It makes sense, as we're not in alert status and we only ever get cancelled days if we're in battle.

Tuesday, 5 August 2008

Stardate: 203215

The plasma purge went really well. I guess that's because space is a good vacuum, and it sucked every bad greenie out of the system. It's actually improved performance a lot and it's made me wonder if there were some other gremlins in the system which has been affecting the engines.  Thing is, you never know what kind of muck they give you at some of these space docks. I swear we should install a better plasma filter at the inlet valves. I am sure the filter isn't fine enough.

Monday, 4 August 2008

Stardate: 203214

I have one expression for this diary. An expression that is going to keep my progress on this ship under control.

"Chain of Command"

Why do I say this? It because, despite all my hard work recently, I still have to follow orders. And even though I worked out what that virus was, and potentially saved Chief's life.. I still get to crawl through plasma tubes.

Still, the flush through seemed to go ok. No more dark greenies in the light greenies mum!

Friday, 1 August 2008

Stardate: 203213

Chief might not like what I discovered today. He's only just come back to duty as that virus really got to him. But it was all very well sending out a antivirus to kill off the bug, but the green particles were all coated in Plasma! I've got a bad feeling that we might need to flush the system. Its not going to make the suphonic drive work right until we do.

Thursday, 31 July 2008

Stardate: 203212

Ok.. I wanted to log this, because Chief is still in sick bay and I might get into trouble for not doing my "regular" duties.  I felt a bit gutted because I take pride in my plasma tube checks and I wanted to know where that green infection had come from. It was only when I grouped it all back together that I realised it was coated with plasma already! Like a shell! I was so intent on opening it up, I didn't check the outside. I'll have to tell Chief, sickbay or not!

Ok.. I just realised. I think we got this "bug" when we were scanning for that missing guy. It's quite possible that we either picked it up, or it was sent to us through the Nidus Dish. Which means that either sent or not, it came from one place. The Mataks

Stardate: 203211

I am shattered. Found the code in the sequence last night and told Doc. She's one impatient woman. I was trying to explain how Gwen and I had pulled the sequence into the holomem, and split apart the various cells and electrons in the holodeck, exploded them out and tried injecting plasma and oxygen and them and how quickly they duplicated, and also that its all to do with cell's doubling which is why we got 64 and then how Gwen had to go back to engineering and I still carried on after shift and.. I think I know why she just grabbed the notecard off me.

Stardate 203210

Ok. I think I know why it's here, and I think its got something to do with so many off sick. I'll have to go tell the Doc, but I'll have no vital information if I can't just crack this annoying sequence. And I think the time I've spent in the plasma tubes is helping me somehow. Going back to holodeck now to try a new formula.

Monday, 28 July 2008

Stardate: 203209

Gwen and I have spent what might be our final day trying to work out this thing. We're getting a little short staffed in engineering, so we might have to go help there. I might spend a little more time after shift tonight to have a final go at working out what makes this thing tick and why it's in our Plasma tubes.

Friday, 25 July 2008

Stardate: 203208

Ok this is strange. Within moments of that thing getting oxygen (well synthesized in the holodeck) it multiplied into another 64. I didn't understand why at first, until Gwen told me the rules of doubles. So while its in Plasma, it's quiet and when it gets oxygen it multiplies. Lets hope this thing never gets oxygen huh?

Thursday, 24 July 2008

Stardate: 203207

Am very confused today.  Just spent most of the day looking at that green particle in 3D in the holodeck. It looks very complicated and certainly not one of ours!  We're going to spend tomorrow extracting some of the components to find out what it's meant to do. Gwen wondered if she should talk to Chief, but he's been unwell, so we didn't want to bother him.  A few of the others have been unwell too, so glad to spend the time in the holodeck with Gwen.

Wednesday, 23 July 2008

Stardate: 203206

Gwen and I analysed the dark green particles we found in the plasma tubes and we've thrown them into the computer nano scanner for more analysis. Because we only have low level analytical clearance, it'll take a few hours to complete. We'll upload it into the holomem and see if we get a 3D view.

Tuesday, 22 July 2008

Stardate: 203205

Saw something odd in the plasma tubes today. I've been with them so long, you kind of start recognising anomalies. Just every so often, there was a dark green one. Not loads, but enough to see every so often. And you can only see it in the main arteries. The sub tubes are so tiny, the plasma whips along too fast to see them. I've isolated a few and went to show Chief, but he passed me in the corridor looking like he had the flu or something. I'll get Gwen to help me analyse it.

Monday, 21 July 2008

Stardate: 203204

Had to spend most of the morning in a plasma conduit again after Chief said that his rhythms were out. We all joked about it for a couple of minutes until Lt. Gribble came in and told us how Chief's rhythms were the feel for the ship and had got them out of many a crumbling ship. Because I joked the most I got the Plasma Conduit. Sigh. More overdose of plasma particles.

Friday, 18 July 2008

Stardate: 203203

Its almost midnight. Not that it makes much difference in space. It's always dark outside and always light inside. Takes a while to acclimatise to that kind of life. I suddenly remembered that I've left the sports lounge settings up too high. I better hack back into it and reduce them to normal. We're at Ralos 3 and Jay is back there. It's been nice to have him here, but he's a pain in the neck sometimes. I am so tired.. Maybe I'll adjust the settings in the morning.

Thursday, 17 July 2008

Stardate: 203202

Jay and I spent the morning in the sports lounge but, after playing that hologram simulation, it all seemed a little "lightweight". So we hacked the settings and pushed them up a grade or two which made things tougher. Was fun watching a few people come out red faced! Jay told me not to say anything, but I might go back and put the settings back after my shift.

Wednesday, 16 July 2008

Stardate: 203201

One day I'd like to be a visitor on a ship. Because Jay hasn't got a post on this ship, he's done whatever he wants. In the meantime, I've scrambled through more Plasma tubes and tweaked more settings in confined spaces. I returned to my quarters to find he's even raided my stash of Banana Snack Bars. Doesn't he know you can't rez them in the nutritional units?

Tuesday, 15 July 2008

Stardate: 203200

Had a cool day off today. Chief granted me a day's leave so that I could spend it with my brother before we took him back to Ralos 3. Doesn't look like we might be staying there as originally planned, so it was nice to get time with Jay. Mind you, he's still rubbish a phonic-hockey! And we ran a hologram simulation that has just been released on earth, which was good exercise - much better than the sports lounge!

Monday, 14 July 2008

Stardate: 203199

Oh my word, just saw the funniest sight so far! We were being chased by a load of Matak ships, when suddenly we dropped out of subphonic speed right in front of the Freedom! That is one huge ship. I'd love to serve on her one day. They say that her engineering section is almost the size of this ship. She has so much Plasma generation, she can encompass an additional 5 ships in her shields. Those Mataks realised the best action, and did a One Eighty! Excellent, absolutely Excellent!

Friday, 11 July 2008

Stardate: 203198

It worked! Ha Ha! I can't believe it worked so well! We managed to find the lost crewman and he got teleported aboard straight to sickbay.  Apparently he felt sick when he found out how many plasma shadows he had. Doc is still trying to convince him that it is safe. Ship is shaking a little at the moment, I think we're stretching it dashing back to neutral ground. I love this ship, Captain and Chief know just how to get that extra ounce out of her engines.  If all goes well, Jay will be back at Ralos 3 where he should be within a few days.  Well, that's what he's hoping! It's been nice having him aboard, although I'd never tell that to his ugly mug.

Thursday, 10 July 2008

Stardate: 203197

Am happy today, Chief liked it and is going to show the Captain. Am a little nervous and hope it still works in practice. All the tests have passed within acceptable parameters. I've suggested that we feed it through the Nidus Dish which will amplify it's scanning ability but Chief had already thought of that. I guess that's why he's the Chief.  Jay is excited for me too, but it was his idea. Maybe he's hoping to see his crewman friend again.

Wednesday, 9 July 2008

Stardate: 203196

I think I've cracked it. Managed to upload the algorithm into the systems scanners today for final testing. Had to modify it a little to scan for Plasma Deposits. I'll work on the DNA side of it after it stops identifying people as food. For the record, in case I get an award for design and modification, it looks for minor deposits of Plasma which get picked up through living on a spaceship. I've been able to tweak it to look for the kind of signatures that the plasma on our fleet deposits on people. Plasma's not dangerous, unless you get it 100% spilt on you, but its like invisible pollen and to watch it on the monitor screen's looks like a cool light show of plasma trails walking about! Time to show Chief.

Tuesday, 8 July 2008

Stardate: 203195

This is harder than I thought. What I thought was the right algorithm, ended up identifying me as a jam suit pudding. Maybe I saved mums recipe's in the wrong data bank. Chief got us all on weapons and defence systems drill earlier and everything looked good to go.

Monday, 7 July 2008

Stardate: 203194

Jay's given me a "secret" project to work on. Said something about a way to scan for DNA from orbit. We've never done that before, only our hand held scanners have been able to localise that kind of information and even then the range has been about 500m. I asked him who's DNA, and he just told me to make it generic for now. I don't mind, beats climbing through Plasma tubes.

Friday, 4 July 2008

Stardate: 203193

Jay's just gone to see the Captain this evening. Apparently the Captain had some questions about the reasons for the missing crewman.

I'm on graveyard shift tonight, routine checks, boring work.. nothing much doing.. yawn.

Thursday, 3 July 2008

Stardate: 203192

Jay is being used at the tactical station to help them organise a search pattern. One of the benefits of being an officer I guess. I wish he would tell me more of what's going on, but he's good to his word and never talks to me about things I shouldn't know. Captain was happy for him to be of help as we are all on the same team. Probably need more help from other ships if they are about. Space is a big place to search.

Strange, overheard a conversation in the mess hall today and they were saying that there were 42 on the manifest. Somebody is missing. Jay if that is you, when I find you you are so dead! We rendezvous with the GE-Pioneer in a few hours then we'll know.

Monday, 30 June 2008

Stardate: 203189

Exciting news today, was woken up early (you'll pay me back for that Jay) by Gwen who told me they're reading life signs on the ship! 41 people apparently and, if its the right ship, engineering specs show that it normally supports around 40 people, so that sounds like everybody is alive! I am so happy.

Friday, 27 June 2008

Stardate: 203188

Wow, what a difference in mood on the ship today! We've picked up a ship on the sensors this morning, and we turned to intercept. Trouble is, it's so far away and at the edge of the sensors, we only know it to be a ship. Don't know if it's one of ours or not. Hope you are ok Jay. I hope it's you

Thursday, 26 June 2008

Stardate: 203187

Sigh.. look at the time 23:30. Muggins here managed to tweak the sensor array in the Nidus Dish yesterday. And then get stuck. Stuck in the crawl space with my arms up, flat on my stomach and no way to reach my communicator. It took them until today to notice, and apparently I was due to meet up with the Captain! My mums going to kill me, she wanted an autograph. I wonder what he wanted?

Wednesday, 25 June 2008

I needed to do something to take my mind off Jay, him being lost in space is scaring me. So I volunteered to scramble behind the Nidus Dish and see if I can reach the scanner's plasma controls. The Nidus Dish is on the front of the ship and is where all the plasma fields run to - like a core - and when we channel scanners, energy or weapon controls through it, it multiplies it's effect. Trouble is, the settings are normally done when we are in space dock and you can access if from outside. While in space, its a very tight crawl space!

Its funny, I seem to be doing things automatically. All my thoughts are with Jay. Chief got me tweaking settings for the sensors and phaser banks and apparently I did a good job, but I can't remember what I've done. Maybe I should work more like this, let my subconscious work overtime if it means we get better ship performance.

Its 0400 hours, and I can't sleep. Saw the ships counsellor last night and she broke the news that my brother was on the Missing ship. He should have been on the surface, what was he doing in a ship? It feels like we just dropped out of hyperspace. I've learned the different resonances that are almost inaudible on a ship this big, that help you gauge what the ships doing. I'm not telling mum yet, Jay might be ok. I think I'll get dressed and see if there's anything I can do in Engineering.

I was put on shield duty today with Gwen. We both worked very hard as Chief said that if we can get an overall improvement of even 1% on the scanners and shields we'd all get extended shore leave at our next dock. We'll know if we got it by tomorrow, but Gwen and I managed to increase the efficiency of the shields by about 0.2%. Chief told us anything was good! Oh, and Chief mentioned to me that he wanted me to see the Ships Counsellor at the end of my shift. So a quick hydroshower and that's where I will be heading next.

Stardate: 203182

Was just about to teleport down to the surface to see if I could find Jay, and it's been announced that we are leaving again in about 30 mins. All shore leave has been put on hold and all staff have been recalled to duty. Rumours are that a small craft got attacked by the Matak craft that we passed through. I bet the pilot was trying to be a hero all of a sudden and broke formation - stupid twit. Anyway, we're heading back and Captain wants full whack on the engines again. I better log, there's my duty call.

Wednesday, 18 June 2008

Stardate: 203181

Yay! We've arrived at Ralos 3. Once I've finished my shift, I'll go and find Jay. I'm assigned to plasma monitoring in Cargo Bay 14 as there are a lot of supplies that need to be teleported down to the surface and we don't want half the food turning to mush.

Tuesday, 17 June 2008

Stardate: 203180

Better not be in my logs for too long today, Chief is stretching the engine and he needs all crew at their stations. I'm just on a short break before my eyes blur from concentrating on plasma safety levels for too long. We don't always get to hear about why things are pushed faster, but it's our job. I'll get to see my brother Jay soon, so I don't mind the slightest!

Enemies are so unfair. There I was, sitting on a nice beach.. reading an old book that I was able to store in the holodeck, when we had some attack from some tiny ships that Chief called Mataks, some kind of one man attack ships. Anyway, they were no match for Captain and our ship! We scared 'em good and proper!  Couple of minor plasma blows here and there to fix, which is what I am working on at the moment and have to go back to finish in a moment. Some of the Re-Gen Crystals have been scorched, but we can get some replacement ones at Ralos when we get there.

Stardate:203178

Managed to get a nice bit of time set up in the holodeck, going to find a nice quite place to sit and unwind and read. Looks like its going to be a quiet day.

Stardate: 203177

Got a pat on the back today for fixing a fault that a superior had missed. Conduit 20 or 21, had a faulty plasma linkage in it which was inhibiting the Scanners by about 0.02% Doesn't sound much, but for our ship that's a solar systems worth!

Wednesday, 11 June 2008

Stardate: 203176

Was assigned to conduit 21 today. I can't understand how the Chief could ever know which one he is in by the look of the inside. Every plasma pipe is the same, every holomem emits the same blinking light. Oh except conduit 21 turned about to be conduit 20. Probably there again tomorrow then.

Stardate: 203175

Well yesterday was a disaster for all involved. An argument broke out in the engine room and a couple of ensigns ended up in Sick Bay with black eyes. Thankfully we managed to keep it quiet from Chief and so the Captain didn't get to hear of it! Thankfully I wasn't involved, but I felt sorry for Danny!

Stardate: 203174

Two things made me worry today. Captain is holding a "Senior Personnel" dinner today (please please don't discover the Steak Pie is not Chef's!) and Lieutenant Dahle is "taking command" of our section while Chief is at dinner and for the record he hates my guts.

Oh, for the record too, I hate his too, but then Dahlians stomachs are on the outside of their body until they reach Maturity.

Chief had a joke on me today. He told me to go to the stores and find a Quantum Spanner to tweak the Quantum Mechanics in the Subphonic Drive. ha very funny.

Stardate: 203172

Quite happy today, it was announced that we are heading to Ralos 3. Jay is living there at the moment, and it'll be nice to see my brother again. Contacted mum and she forwarded some home cooking algorithms for his Nutritional Units, as he is allergic to some of the supplements they add in the default ingredients. Might keep some of mum's cooking here too, she makes a mean Steak Pie - don't tell the Chef, but I might upload it into his console.

Stardate: 203171

All systems functioning and we are underway and not a moment too soon. I just lost a game of Chaos with a Treling bodyguard and accidently ran out of credits before I was teleported back to the ship.  hehe silly mug!

Tuesday, 3 June 2008

Stardate: 203170

It worked! Chief was most impressed. Not going to waste my holomem on the science of it, but it came down to two things can't occupy the same space! Apparently they caught a Treling who wanted to sell off our ship to some guy for major money! I'm in the wrong job, I tell you.

Monday, 2 June 2008

Stardate: 203169

Been thinking about food all night, and it's given me an idea.  Something I learned about Sauzris and what happened to the Nutritional Unit. Hmm.. I better tell Chief first.

Friday, 30 May 2008

Stardate: 203168

Danny told me he worked with Gwen today and she hit him! Some rude comment about her hands I bet, he really should watch his tongue. I spent most of my day in Sickbay, after seeing what the Nutritional Units would do with a Sauzris.

Thursday, 29 May 2008

Stardate: 203167

I had to admit, I've gotten a little scared. Transporters are down now, and 6 shuttles aren't working. Chief is rotating the partners that we work with based on a list that Captain gave him. Worked with Danny today, he's such a laugh, we had a right old time squashed in the systems tubes. I'm surprised we got out of those tubes in one piece. Oh must remember to send that song to his consul.
>file retrieval - "tubular bells - historical lesson"
>send to-Strauss, Daniel
>notation- "Here Danny, that song I was winding you up with!"

Stardate: 203166

Chief had a meeting with the Captain today, and came back with the order that nobody work alone. So was paired with Gwen all day. Now, don't get me wrong, I am all for interuniversal recruits, but with 4 arms she does tend to repair stuff quicker than me - most embarrassing.

Tuesday, 27 May 2008

Stardate: 203165

You'd think they'd give us a decent ship before we set out into the universe. Subphonic drive is down, comms is down, and the nutritional units are making celery bad for your heart.

Monday, 26 May 2008

Stardate: 203164

Finally chief let me get my laser iron out today and was able to repair a few loose connections. Didn't need to spend the weekend in the Sports Lounge this time, lost calories running around like a headless chicken.

Friday, 23 May 2008

Stardate: 203163

Wow, that was a busy and bad day. Chief pulled me off from the Nutritional Units as our comms failed. Completely blacked out. Everybody is in panic because they have to run around passing messages backwards and forwards. I thought it would be better to have "runners" to do the messages, instead of engineers leaving stations, which Chief thought was a good idea. So I've been running all afternoon. Next time Mulder, keep your mouth shut.

Thursday, 22 May 2008

Stardate: 203162

Captain's parked us in orbit over Trelos 4. We've all stocked up with Sauzris, which is a Treling delicacy. Tastes like, well tastes like Chicken. But its got almost zero calories. Cool!

Wednesday, 21 May 2008

Stardate: 203161

Day 2 of the Nutritional Units. I've checked about 40 units so far.  Chief went and checked the Captains and I said if he found something, I would eat my hat. He told me it might be better for me anyway. The hat is safe, he found nothing.

Tuesday, 20 May 2008

Stardate: 203160

Well that's the answer then, was given an assignment today to help analyse the Nutritional Units. They've been converting carbohydrates into fat! I've taken apart a few units now and can't see anything wrong with them.

Monday, 19 May 2008

Stardate: 203159

Something's not quite right. Spent most of my "weekend" training in the Sports Lounge, and when I weighed myself today, I've not lost anything.

Friday, 16 May 2008

Stardate: 203158

Just got back from duty, and now have a 60 hour break from "official" duty. The rotation of everybody on this ship is pretty clever, it's like we get a weekend break but while we are on board, our weekends are all staggered so there are always plenty on shift. The only time that gets cancelled is when we go on alert, then it's all hands to stations.. oh damn, gotta go..

Supplemental - Stardate:203158#2205:-
It's ok, captain was "testing our metal" he was impressed with our immediate response and told us to go back to normal status. Sleep is my first priority before hitting the sports lounge.

Thursday, 15 May 2008

Stardate: 203157

Managed to look out of a window as we engaged the subphonic drive. Wow, to see those planets go past like they were junctions off a highway, was facinating. Neptune and back in 45 mins. Chief said we were restricted like a speed limit in our solar system, so will be interesting to see how fast we go on our first mission.

Wednesday, 14 May 2008

Stardate: 203156

Grief, we're still in Space Port and it's my fault. The junctions looked so similar, not sure chief DuMond is impressed with me. He smoothed it over with Captain though!

Tuesday, 13 May 2008

Stardate: 203155

I am so tired. I hope I get more than 5 hours sleep tonight. They got me working on the engine core later, something to do with the subphonic drive. The chief told me that all ensigns should be able to repair a ship in an emergency in case all commanders were held hostage. Got to go, being called to the engine room now.

I can't believe it. First day on the ship and I thought I'd get chance to have a tour. They said it'd be exciting, but I was stuffed in some cramped systems tube testing circuits. I'll have 5 hours sleep and I've got to be up again for the next shift. Yeah, exciting.
